About Tracy

Who am I and why should I help you with your home? No really, this is something you should be asking yourself. Here is my background…

I graduated from Purdue University with my bachelors in science in nursing and then went on to University of Michigan for my masters in science to become a nurse practitioner. I still work in healthcare but after over a decade, I realized healthcare was not allowing me to stretch the creative side of my brain, while home design does.

So how did my home design passion start and grow?

In 2011, we purchased our first home in Plymouth, Michigan. It was a cozy craftsman built in 1947 in need of some major updates. I was in graduate school, so DIY and tight budgeting was how we made that house home, we sold the home approximately 5 years later for $100k+ more than we bought it for. Our realtor at the time told us, the home needed to be listed and shown furnished because the decor and styling would sell it, which was a huge compliment to the time I had put into designing and creating the space. We also took time to stage the home appropriately by taking out some furniture that crowded the space. I learned an immense amount with this first sale.

In 2015 we moved to Rochester, Michigan (our hometown), where we bought a spec home. A spec home allowed some instant customization but also budgeting and decision making right away. The home had no carpet, no appliances, no knobs and pulls and a back sliding door to nowhere (and a 9 foot drop). I spent countless hours before we made our offer budgeting with the money we hoped to make on our current home to see if we could afford all the things we needed right away. Numbers aligned and we moved in.

In 2020, the housing market kept climbing and we asked our realtor what we’d list for and it was A LOT! We were on a busy street and had just brought home our second son and started to crave a quieter street to raise our boys, so in 2021, we signed to build our current home, which sits on a quiet cul-de-sac (besides for all the kids running around). We moved in April 2022 and we love it here, but the work wasn’t done the day we moved in. Our builder was not a fully custom builder so I had to get creative with finish work and planning for projects to be done after close. For example, the builder had very limited lighting packages, I did not care for any of them, so while the house was being built- I shopped for and ordered thirty light and fan fixtures that got delivered days after we moved in. The amount I learned during this process and the people I have worked with to get here have been invaluable in my ability to help future clients.

So do I have a fancy design degree? no. Have I designed for magazines or websites? no.

What I DO HAVE is passion and experience in designing homes that fit my family’s needs. I have DIYed, customized and contracted on three homes and I designed our current home from the ground up.

Home design can be overwhelming, I want to be your hype girl! I want to work with you on creating your vision and giving you the confidence to execute and create your dream home!
